Six Session Overview
As worship and creative types, we work in a church environment amongst people who don’t always share the same vision of creativity as we do.. I want to help bridge this gap with your teams, your lead pastor, and help you to better prepare and lead. Together we will build better teams, learn methods of creative planning, better communication and inter-staff relationships, and better self-care as a worshiper.
- Leading Well – Building & Equipping Better Teams. You will learn deeper skills in effectively leading your congregations and your teams, how to build and equip your worship teams to better engage your congregation, and learn powerful tools to recruit talent within your church.
- Planning Ahead for An Effective Worship Ministry. Whether you feel like you are behind the curve or just need to get ahead of the next season, I’ll help with some powerful tips on how to plan your entire year’s calendar for worship. Many of us who call ourselves “creatives” lack organization. The tools given in this class will help you harness the effectiveness you need to lead and lead well.
- Unleashing Creativity. One of the most effective things that a worship leader/creative can do for his/her lead pastor is to assist in the creative planning of services and gatherings. You will learn the 8 Needed Creative Personalities for a Creative Team, how to plan out your services 14 weeks ahead of time, and how to organize ideas in a way that harnesses the best of your team’s creativity.
- How To Speak Latin To A Pastor Who Speaks French. Have you ever felt like you and your lead pastor were speaking different languages? One of the greatest relationships you can have in your church is with your lead pastor. You will learn ways to improve communications with your lead pastor and your other members of your church staff to break down the barriers that often lead to awkward silos.
- The Dangers of Becoming Saul. (Recommended reading: “A Tale of Three Kings” by Gene Edwards) Have you ever been hurt…badly…by something that your lead pastor said or did? Perhaps months of your planning – undone by one ten second conversation from walking on the stage? Ever felt like you were unjustly talked about behind your back to others? Your leadership questioned? You aren’t alone. We will look at the Biblical account of Saul and David and glean powerful lessons from their close encounters. This is one lesson every pastor and leader should be required to take.
- Creating A Songwriting Community Within Your Church (Recommended reading: “God Songs: How to Write & Select Songs for Worship” by Paul Baloche) God has created us to be creative. We each have songs within us. You will learn some steps to unlock that creativity within you to write songs for your local community – the church. You will also learn ways to help your local church culture create an environment to write songs collectively together.
